Who is Rosa Bonheur

Rosa Bonheur ( original name, Marie-Rosalie Bonheur, born March 16, 1822 France—died May 25, 1899) was famous French artist and painter. She mostly paint animals sculpture with realistic accuracy and style. 
She create paintings and art to honor the tradition of field plowing by animal power.


Rosa Bonheur's career in Art 

Although Bonheur's aspirations for a career in art were unconventional for women of the time, she spent years of careful study and closely following the development of artistic traditions before the sketches were immortalized on canvas.

Bonheur's reputation as an animal painter and sculptor grew in the 1840s. Many of his works were exhibited at the prestigious Paris Salon from 1841 to 1853.

Famous art of Rosa Bonheur : Rosa Bonheur The Horse Fair

In 1853, Bonheur gained international fame with her painting "The Horse Fair", which depicted a horse market held in Paris. As his best-known portrait, this painting is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

To honor this famous painting, the French Empress Eugenie awarded the Legion of Honour, one of the country's most prestigious awards, to Bonheur in 1865.
